Sarandë is a seaside city in the south of the Albanian Riviera, facing the Greek island of Corfu across a narrow channel. It is the liveliest spot on the southern Albanian coast, with a long seafront promenade, tavernas and a busy evening atmosphere. Sarandë is also the gateway to Ksamil and to the ancient city of Butrint, protected by UNESCO. For Macedonian travellers it is part of the increasingly popular Albanian south, reachable by car. Summers are hot and dry, with August sea temperatures of around 28°, and the season runs from late May into October.
