About Katerini
Katerini is the main town of the Pieria region, set on the plain between Mount Olympus and the Thermaic Gulf, a few kilometres from the sea. It is a tidy provincial town with a large central square, a pedestrian zone and a municipal park, most often used as a base for the beaches of Pieria and for trips towards Olympus. For Macedonian travellers Katerini is a familiar stop on the way to the Greek coast, easily reached by car via Thessaloniki. The climate is Mediterranean with a continental touch: summers are warm and dry, while the nearby sea and mountain temper the heat.
