About Crete
Crete is the largest Greek island, stretched along the southern edge of the Aegean, with mountains, gorges and hundreds of kilometres of coastline. It is a whole destination in itself, with Minoan heritage several thousand years old, Venetian harbours and varied beaches, from sandy lagoons to rocky coves. Because of its size, the weather and character differ from north to south and from west to east. For Macedonian visitors Crete is reached by flight, most often on package trips. Summers are hot and dry, with August sea temperatures of around 28°, and the season runs from May into October.
