Nea Kallikrateia is a coastal town on the Thermaic Gulf, on the mainland part of Halkidiki before the entrance to Kassandra. It has a long beach and a seafront promenade, and Thessaloniki is a short drive away, which makes it a frequent stop on the way to the peninsulas. For Macedonian visitors Nea Kallikrateia is a practical choice for a beach holiday close to the city, with easy access to Kassandra as well. Summers are hot and dry, with sea temperatures reaching around 28° in August, and the season runs from late May to mid-September.
